Classic French stone fireplace

Reference : 202107
Classic French stone fireplace : This antique limestone chimneypiece features Classic detail in the form of Louis XVI fluting on the side jambs, corbels and lintel. Medium sized, it would have been in the living room of a farmhouse, it is presumed early 19th century, but perhaps late 18th century. Its lintel is in a harder stone than the side jambs, presumably as it has quite a wide span. The fireplace has been cleaned but retains an unmistakably antique reclaimed patina.

Dimensions approx :

  • Overall width = 150 cm (59 inches)
  • Overall height = 124 cm (49 inches)
  • Height below lintel = 105 cm (41 inches)
  • Width between side jambs = 114 cm (45 inches)
  • Front to back overall = 64 cm (25 inches)

On display at BCA’s Normandy premises at Méry Corbon, between Caen and Lisieux.
