Old andirons with diamond point tops with rings : This pair of firedogs or “andirons” is propbably 20th century, and each has a ring on the front, and diamond shaped tops on the uprights. They are an age-old functional fireplace feature required in open fires to stop burning logs rolling out of the fireplace, and to allow air for combustion to flow above the embers..
