Old andirons with adjustable spit roast supports : This heavyweight pair of firedogs or “andirons” is forged in wrought iron or steel, probably 19th century but could be early 20th. They have a good worn patina, still partially grey from an applied finish. They are an age-old classic style each with an ingenious adjustable height spit roast support that can easily be put back into service in a traditional fireplace.
