Small pair of forged iron fire-dogs : This small but heavyweight pair of firedogs or “andirons” is hand-forged, featuring « barley-twist » uprights, and likely made by a village blacksmith. They are an age-old functional style intended to stop logs rolling forward out of the fireplace, and to allow combustion air to flow above the embers..
