Truly Reclaimed French oak “Roquefort” boards

Reference : 2024010

Truly Reclaimed French oak “Roquefort” boards: Antique reclaimed French oak boards that we have re-calibrated in thickness by planing the underside only, to thereby retain the upper surface with its worn patina enhanced by brushing. To enable their re-use as Truly Reclaimed flooring or for furniture-making etc we retained them as thick as possible at 30mm (1.2 inch), so they are far more robust than typical floorboards. We then calibrated their irregular mixed widths to a series of regular widths, with straight edges slightly aged again by surface brushing. On request we can re-mill them thinner and add tongues & grooves. Contact us to discuss.

Reclaimed with great difficulty from the heart of France’s AVEYRON region, from the deep caves used for maturing France’s celebrated Roquefort blue cheese by natural ventilation. Away from daylight and progressively absorbing the natural oil from the cheeses, these oak bords have an extraordinarily rich oak colour and patina. So far we’ve not noticed any sheep cheese smell ….. we can send samples.
