Antique Paris street signs

Reference : 2023105

Antique Paris street signs: These antique cast iron street signs indicate local lanes in the county of the « SEINE » which existed as an administrative location from 1795 to 1968. The « SEINE » area included 12 communes within 12 kilometres of Paris’s Notre Dame Cathedral. The « SEINE » département was dissolved in favour of a re-organized Paris administration, so antique street signs such as these were phased out.

These three indicate:

  • Chemin vicinal N°2 Territoire de Drancy,
  • Chemin vicinal N°3 Pont de Bondy,
  • Chemin vicinal N°4 Route des Petits Ponts.

Each of these signs was cast in iron, with the texts in relief.

Dimensions approx:

  • 80cm x 40cm x thickness 20mm (31.5 x 15.75 inches x thickness 0.8 inch)
  • bolt holes at each angle : 20mm (0.8 inch) hole with a 35mm (1.4 inch) bolt head recess.

On display in BCA’s new showrooms at Pont L’Evêque, near Deauville in Normandy.
