Antique stone obelisk on pedestal : This extraordinary Louis XVI style obelisk in French limestone was elaborately carved, and gloriously adorned with a large shield with skull and cross-bones on its principal face, featuring weapons and the tools of many trades on the other three faces. It is an evocative monument celebrating power and glory based on military and traditional skills, It would make an ideal focal point in a landscaped park or garden.
The age (surely 19th century…) and origin of this obelisk is currently unknown.
