Antique Black & White marble floor

Antique Black & White marble floor : This small antique reclaimed floor is a rarity, as the black stone squares are in the deepest of black limestones, which is polishable. Because it is polishable it is referred to as a marble. This black marble is from a quarry in Wallonia (part of Belgium), from the hamlet of Golzinne (near Gembloux) or nearby Mazy from the same vein of stone. This deep black polishable limestone is known as “Noir de Golzinne » or « Noir de Mazy ». Combined with the white marble cabochon squares it is a very rare for us to source such a beautiful and visually striking floor such as this. Due to the density of black this stone has been specified for centuries for prestigious architectural and decoration works, from the Palace of Versailles to the Taj Mahal.
