Antique blue-stone column
Antique blue-stone column: This is a single antique reclaimed column of elegant slender proportions in a Flamboyant Gothic style. It was carved in the blue-stone of Belgium and Northern France. The age is unknown but most likely 19th century. Although the main shaft is cylindrical it has been cut flat along the back to fit against a wall. It features very fine longitudinal fluting. The capital features hand-sculpted leaves and flowers with Ionic Style volutes at the 4 corners.
The photos clearly show some damage incurred over time. It can be restored for integration into a building again, or used as an Object d’Art either inside or outside. It is the kind of authentic architectural salvage that integrates well into a historic garden or folly.
