Antique French statue by Léon Moynet
Antique French statue by Léon Moynet : This antique statue in terra-cotta is presumed late 19th century. It depicts a man piously looking up to Heaven, hand on heart, perhaps a returning soldier. It was made either by the sculpteur Léon MOYNET (1818 – 1892) himself, or by one of his team at “La Sainterie” at Vendeuvre-sur-Barse in the Aube département, South-East of Paris. « La Sainterie » was the manufacturing works established by Moynet in 1842, which specialised in hand-made individual or limited series of religious sculptures and décor.
In generally good condition, but with lots of patina, various repairs have been done to it over the years prior to it coming into stock at BCA Matériaux Anciens.
