Reclaimed wide pine boards
Reclaimed wide pine boards, with an intriguing provenance. These old pine shelf boards were used by a French cheese-maker for storing and maturing the cheeses, but became surplus to requirements. When “cheese boards” are in good condition like these are they are excellent for re-using for flooring, wall cladding or furniture-making. Their upper surfaces are slightly worn by the cheeses sliding over them over time, thereby providing character and patina. They are impressively wide and long, and thick, so that’s a real bonus. These are reclaimed from a Comté cheese-maker in the Jura region of France. The timber is believed to be “Sapin des Vosges”, a slow growth spruce.
