Cognac distillery limestone water cooler

Cognac distillery limestone water cooler : It is rare to source such a fascinating stone water feature that can be put to decorative re-use on a landscape or garden design project. It was hand-carved in 6 sections in hard limestone from the quarries at Crazannes and put into service at a local chateau’s Cognac distillerie. NB: A distillery requires a cool water supply to circulate for the alcohol to condense. Presumed early 19th century or older, it remains in excellent condition. 

It is easy to imagine this stone serpentine installed as a unique centerpiece garden or courtyard feature, particularly in a hot summer climate where the water circulating will naturally cool down the immediate vicinity. It could even be installed as an interior feature to naturally cool a room where otherwise air-conditioning would have been used.

Crazannes limestone has the reputation of being almost impermeable and consequently frost-proof. EG: it was the limestone used to build Cologne Cathedral, Fort Boyard, and apparently part of the base of the Statue of Liberty.

Total weight of the 6 sections = 2040 kg (4,500 US lbs)
