Ornate limestone lintels from French chateau
Ornate limestone lintels from French chateau : These beautifully carved lintels removed from a local town (in the Loire region) 19th century chateau demolished to make way for development. These and some other architectural salvage features were saved by BCA “in extremis”. They feature hand-carved garlands, fruit and shells in Classic style, weathered but in good condition.
At the center, an elegantly sculpted shell immediately captures attention, symbolizing both the sophistication and refinement of classic French ornamentation. On each side, two finely crafted clusters frame the ensemble, adding a decorative touch typical of nature-inspired designs. The whole is connected by a garland.
The stones, with their soft hue and patina of time, retain an authentic charm that will bring a unique cachet to a renovation or a modern installation seeking to integrate historical materials. This lintel, already ready to find a new life, is a historical piece that, in addition to being a functional architectural element, is also a true testament to French heritage.
