Monumental limestone gate pillars : This pair of imposing high gateway pillars in limestone features “Directoire style” pillar caps on top of plain square block main sections. The stone blocks are relatively recent and have received an application of matt pigment to replicate the types of tiny lichen that occur when antique stonework weathers. The weathering process will continue in situ outside, and will blend over time.
