Antique Louis XIV fireplace with overmantel

Reference : 202199

Antique Louis XIV fireplace with overmantel : This antique Louis XIV fireplace is a genuine truly reclaimed French chimneypiece of the late 17th (or early 18th) century. It is finely carved in French limestone, and has received limited repairs and cleaning, which is clearly visible on the photos. Also clearly visible are the authentic areas that have received various “blows” over the centuries. Did the fine property in which it held pride of place suffer war damage in 1944 as the Allies advanced ? It certainly looks like it, but we have no knowledge of its history in fact.
